What is Procell Microchanneling?
Procell, a Dermascope 2020 winner, is both an anti-aging and corrective treatment that combines microchanneling followed by a powerful mesenchymal stem cell and cytokine protein serum.
Microchanneling refers to a mechanized stamper that creates numerous, clean microchannels, reducing tissue damage and inflammation while maximizing clinical benefit. Procell’s micro channeling device uses needles made from wire filaments, each small enough to fit into a hair follicle. This minimizes damage to the dermis for faster recovery. This process has many benefits.
Microchanneling can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles via increased cell turnover, thickening of the epidermis and deposition of softer, lighter, more flexible collagen.
Microchanneling can also reduce the appearance of acne and acne scarring via physical breakage of fibrotic collagen networks. Additionally, in the case of acne, the anti-inflammatory cytokines in the Procell serum as well as improved cellular communication leading to more normalized sebum production also help.
The appearance of skin laxity may be reduced by microchanneling due to improvement of micro-circulation via neo-vascularization; increased cell turnover; thickening of the dermis and epidermis and increased hyaluronic acid production and retention.
The appearance of pigmentary irregularities may be reduced by microchanneling due to rapid sloughing of the epidermal layers, along with increased absorption and retention of skin lightening and melanin regulating topical products after treatment.
What is in the MD Microchannel Delivery Solution a.k.a. Procell serum?
At FACE, the MD Microchannel Delivery Serum is exclusively used. The MD serum contains twice the growth factors, along with additional ingredients such as TGF-ß3 and IL-1 to provide enhanced anti-aging, pro-healing and anti-inflammatory benefits. MD Microchannel Delivery Serum provides faster results with shorter recovery times than the Pro serum.
This Microchannel Delivery Serum contains human bone marrow-derived growth factors in a hyaluronic acid suspension. Both of these elements are naturally-occurring in the human body. There are no human, animal, or plant cells, DNA, blood, or any other foreign substances. The product has been used safely and effectively for over a decade.
The main powerhouse in the Procell serum is Stem Cytokines of pristine quality obtained from adult human bone marrow stem cell cultures that is donated by extremely healthy, young athletes. When applied to the skin, the skin mimics the effect of having more stem cells. (We lose most of these stem cells as we age so that by middle age only a few percent remain compared to our youth and the remaining ones are less robust). The serum supports cellular renewal and has potent regenerating properties to improve skin firmness, elasticity and tone.
This powerful serum or micro channel delivery solution is comprised of deionized water, stem cytokines (proprietary admixture of human bone marrow stem cell derived growth factors and cryokines), hyaluronic acid, dehydroacetic acid and benzyl alcohol.
How do the stem cells and cytokines work?
Procell is all about a biological interaction between damaged cells and healing cytokines. Our bone marrow contain mesenchymal stem cell. These cells contain the DNA hardware to work towards wound healing, fighting disease or, in our case, skin rejuvenation. These mesenchymal stem cells excrete proteins called cytokines, which are like little packages of information. They receive the message that there is an injury (caused by the microchanneling) and they go to the area (or, in this case, are rubbed on the treatment area) to heal. The receptors on the cells in the area of injury connect to the protein. The rector downloads the information from the robust healthy cytokine into the damaged cells and goes to work rejuvenating the skin.
What is the difference between Procell Microchanneling and micro needling?
The stem cell derived growth factors that maximize results are the central feature that distinguished the Procell treatment. As to the delivery machines, Procell Microchanneling uses a stamping technique which causes less damage than any other technique. See the attached image for visual demonstration of the difference. Also, the depth of the Procell microchanneling tips are 100% reliable because each tip has a fixed depth and it is not adjustable. Microneedling devices with adjustable depths are not always accurate. (Different conditions require difference depths of treatment.)
On which areas is Procell Microchanneling effective?
Procell Microchanneling is great for just about anywhere you have skin! In addition to the face, Procell Microchanneling is great for crepey skin on the abdominal area, knees, hands, and elbows.
How long does each session last?
Each session usually lasts 40 minutes - 60 minutes.
What will my skin look like after the treatment?
When needling is complete, the treated skin may feel hot and tight. Treated skin is typically mildly red, which settles down into a speckled redness for the first hour or so and typically resolves within 4 to 24 hours. Expect a mild sloughing of the treated skin for up to 3 days after treatment. Deeper stamping depths will increase healing time.
Tell me about the Add-On treatments for Procell at FACE?
We are delighted to offer 2 add-on treatments, including a 30-minute course of red LED light therapy, powerful stem cell & growth factor serum
Add as many as you want to supercharge healing and maximize Procell microchanneling treatment results.
Red LED Light Therapy - $60
Add a 30-minute course of red LED light therapy immediately after your microchanneling treatment to quicken healing time and optimize treatment results.
Red light therapy increases the function of the mitochondria, enabling cells to produce more ATP. With more energy, cells function more efficiently to regenerate and repair.
Stem Cell & Growth Factor Serum - $75
Speed up your healing and supercharge cellular recovery with the pure stem cell serum add-on, available after microchanneling treatments.
We apply 0.17 fluid ounces of potent healing serum to the tiny micro-wounds immediately after treatment in the short window of time before micro-wounds close.
By communicating directly with your skin’s wounded cells, the stem cells in this serum offer robust information to your skin cells on how to heal in the fastest and fullest way possible.
Rare side effects include infection and scarring. Short-term side effects are minimal but may include:
Cold Sore breakout if you already have the cold sore virus. If so, consult your physician regarding appropriate prophylactic treatment before you have Procell microchanneling.
• Crepey Skin (moisturize, moisturize, moisturize to alleviate)
• Itchiness – during healing itching is common and can be uncomfortable. If it seems intolerable seek the advice of a doctor regarding treatment.
• Acne Flare up – may occur due to the urge to touch the treated area, especially due to itchiness. Avoiding touching your face!
• Millia (small, bump-like cysts) may appear, and are transient, resolving in a week or less - don’t pick!
• Reddening, peeling, scabbing, temporary bruising and temporary discoloration of the skin.
How many treatments will I need and how often?
Microchanneling treatment for skin rejuvenation is recommended every 4-6 weeks. Treatment should begin at .25mm or .5mm needle depth, graduating to longer needles as necessary. One could continue this series indefinitely and experience both corrective and anti-aging benefits.
A series of 6 is recommended for general skin. rejuvenation and anti-aging. For scarring and off the face a series of up to 12 may be recommended. Quarterly, or at minimum semi-annual treatment is required to maintain results.
How quickly will I see results?
Results tend to be noticible after the second treatment.
Who should not have Procell Microchanneling?
Procell Microchanneling is a very safe treatment for most people. Individuals with the below contraindications, however, should not have this treatment.
• Pregnancy
• Uncontrolled Diabetes
• On Accutane or any related acne medication within the last six months
• Any active inflammatory skin condition e.g. eczema, psoriasis, infection, rash or any type of dermatitis at the treatment site
• Laser or deep chemical peel that removed the entire epidermis within last 18 months
• Newly done fillers within the last two weeks
• Scars in treatment area that are less than 6 months old
Treatment area will first be numbed. Most clients report mild to moderate discomfort. A pin prick sensation will be felt, especially over the forehead, cheekbones and lips. When needling is complete there is no lingering discomfort, but the client may report that the treated skin feels hot and tight.
Treated skin is typically mildly red, which will settle down into a speckled redness for the first hour or so and typically resolves within 4 to 24 hours.
